Advanced thinking modes are for work that deserves more than a fast answer. Choosing a mode is really choosing the right model for the task: deeper solo reasoning, structured document production, collaborative ideation, or a formal multi-Pal discussion. Deliberate selection is token optimisation in practice - it keeps you in control of cost, because these modes consume more Credits than lightweight chat.
If the task is straightforward, do not force an advanced mode. Routing a light job to a lighter model is the simplest form of cost control.
Step up to an advanced mode when the task needs a better process: reasoning, structure, comparison, or multiple specialist viewpoints. You spend more Credits deliberately, on work that earns it.
Use FlexiThink when one capable specialist needs time to work through a difficult problem carefully. This is the default deep-reasoning mode for complexity, ambiguity, and tradeoff-heavy work.
Choose FlexiThink when the problem is hard but still belongs with one Pal. It is especially useful for analysis, evaluation, troubleshooting, and planning where quality depends on a stronger process rather than on multiple viewpoints. Because it is a deeper workflow, it will usually consume more Credits than a lightweight reply.
Use DocuThink when the deliverable itself is the job: a proposal, report, guide, brief, or other longform document that benefits from staged construction instead of one-shot generation.
Choose DocuThink when structure matters as much as content. It is the right mode when you want the system to build a real document progressively, not just return a long answer. Because the workflow is heavier, it will usually consume more Credits than ordinary chat.
Use GroupThink when the main value comes from breadth of ideas rather than disciplined debate. It is the lightweight collaborative mode for brainstorming across specialist perspectives.
Choose GroupThink when you want divergence first: options, angles, possible ideas, or fast cross-specialist reactions. If you need a more formal decision process, RoundTable is usually the better choice. Multi-Pal collaboration typically consumes more Credits than a single-Pal response.
Use RoundTable when a decision needs disciplined multi-Pal deliberation. It is the formal discussion mode for tradeoffs, structured disagreement, and clearer convergence.
Choose RoundTable when you need more than brainstorming: prioritisation, challenge, consensus-building, or a recorded multi-viewpoint decision process. It is one of the deeper workflows in the product, so it typically consumes more Credits than simpler modes.
